The Helisnki Sixes is an international cricket tournament, bringing together opposing teams from Finland, Sweden, England and beyond. Estonia will enter two teams (A and B), and Estonia will be looking to improve on their 2nd place achieved in the same tournament in 2003. Cricket has been played since in Estonia since 1999 and is the last nation in Europe to have an internationally recognised cricket team. With cricket the most played team sport in the world, more so than even football, it is hoped that Estonia's growing love affair with the sport will create more recognition for the country overseas. www.estoniancricket.com The ECA has a mixture of Estonians and foreign residents playing on a regular basis, mainly against touring sides from the rest of Europe. Estonia is also becoming well know for the sport of ice cricket, which has captured the imagination of many overseas cricketers and has also created a new and exciting sports tourism market for the city of Tallinn. The 3rd Annual Real Ice Cricket World Championships is set to take place in January, February and March of 2008. www.icecricket.co.uk We hope that those matches on July 4th/5th will interest you and we are more than glad to provide any addional info about cricket in Estonia.
