We had a very successful visit to the English College in Tallinn, to introduce cricket to the school and get the school children playing cricket. Martin, Tim H, Tim F, Andres and Mike T put on their very best British accents, although many of the children may have developed some Australianisms, like "oh dear, I missed the stumps again... damn, bother...". We were invited by Katrin Rahi an English teacher at the school and spoke to the Year 10 English class - about 25 students. The first hour was taken up with a presentation on cricket, explaining how the game is played, the equipment used, the different formats of the game and the development of cricket in Estonia. Then we moved onto their indoor sports facility where we did some practical training, followed by a game of cricket. The Headmaster came to watch and was very interested in developing cricket as a school sport. As soon as we mentioned that Rocca Al Mare School was going to play cricket, they seemed to get very competitive and were interested in further coaching and a possible inter-school tournament. Well done to everyone, a great effort at spreading cricket further into Estonian schools; hopefully we will soon have an inter-schools tournament down at the Hipodroom.
