A new day and perhaps better fortunes thats what the Latvians hoped for the last match of the series after being walloped in the previous 2 matches. At least they were lucky with the toss again and decided to put Estonia to bat.
It seemed that their prayers were answered when Estonia lost Mike Bevan and Venkat cheaply. But then that was just the tip of Estonia's strong batting line up. Shiva came in and though he struggled with his timing initially against the bowling of Bomick and Yeshant, but he got into his groove and hit some immense shots around the park. He was well supported by Nand Lal who hit a quick 17 and Anil who scored a well timed 26.Shiva batted beautifully though his running between wickets was sometimes too aggressive and it seemed that the Latvians were reliving the nightmare that Tim had caused them the previous day. But a couple of run outs resulted in the Estonians scoring 168 for loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
The Latvians were still trying to find answers to Muralis' express pace when they lost their opening batsman in the 2nd over of Glebs bowling caught by Vineeth at silly mid off. But then Baumik and Thilan the 2 Latvian batsmen upped the tempo and Latvia were 95 for loss of 1 wicket after 12 overs.
The match was evenly poised but then Tim Filer got rid of both the batsmen shifting the momentum back to Estonia. Venkat bowled brilliantly when he got 3 wickets, bowling the first batsman and the next 2 caught by Shiva at deep mid off and brillianly by Tim Filer at mid on respectively.
The Latvian Captain came in and played a few lusty shots but it wasnt enough in the end as they could only score 112 of the 20 overs as Estonia won by 54 runs. Though this match was closer than the previous 2, it still highlighted the difference in class between the 2 teams.
Man of the Match:Shivalinga Arunachalam 64 runs.
