Janika Horn won the toss for the Puppies and ask them to bat first. The afternoon was warm & sunny the omens were good for a ripper of a game.
Kaarina & Kirtti Pagil opened the batting for the Pussy cats and got the team off to a good start; Kirtti's power hitting giving her the honours of the first boundary 4 in ladies cricket. Helen bowled beautifuly, giving no extras away and showing great control of the cricket ball. Kirtii was first to go to the pace bowling of Maret Valner.
Kaarina Pagil showed fantastic patience with the bat and experience beyond her years as a cricket player. Pagil was unselfish in her running and taking very cheeky singles to keep the board ticking over. Annemari was next to fall to Maret without bothering the scoreboard too much. Enter Kadri; Kadri & Pagil put on a fantastic partniship of 40 to really establish a great score for the Pussy cats. Sadly Kadri was caught up in the day and was out, hit wicket, going for a big "Tudruk maximum" 4 runs.
Under the new estonian rules the girls are allowed to bat twice in an innings. This allowed Kirtti Pagil again to show her streangth as a batswoman, until she was trapped LBW by the bowling of Valner. Young gun Mariine piled on the pain, eleganlty flicking the final ball of the game to mid-wicket for 4 more haircuts! 94 the total, nice one Pussy Cats.
The puppies responce was quickly silenced by a brilliant joint effort in the field from Kaarina Pagil & Annemari, running danger women Veermae out on the first ball. 0/1, not a good start. Annemari bowled with good rythm and speed not giveing the Pussy cats a look in. Janika and Katre went about their business is a cool fasion picking up singles with smart running.
Annemari changed the bowling about, not allowing the batswomen to setlle. Mariine (new to the game a week ago) had the Puppies in big trouble, showing a natural flare for the game. Captain Vessik took the important wicket of Kaare, clean bowled.
The National Women's Captain, Maret, thought nothing of the Pussy Cats bowling hitting 2 of her first 4 balls for 4. Valner heaped on the runns with Horn. Puppies raced to 60 before Mariine held on to a difficlut chance off her own bowling to dismiss the captain Horn.
Kristina Kala, adopted the role of anchor, seeing off the bowling with little difficulty, mixing solid defence with well placed shots. Kala kept the board ticking along, before she finally was out to Kirtti Pagil.
With Kaare & Veermae at the crease the runs came fast, however, they were halted by a great over by Kaarina Pagil. They finaly hit the winning runs in stlye, Veermae lofting an Off drive down the ground.
Victory to The Puppies and Janika Horn, who proved to be an excellent tactition and cricket brain, thinking all the way through the match.
