In what was considered a development game prior to the match on saturday, the Estonian captain decided to give the Junior players a chance in the spotlight, and reversed the Estonian batting and bowling order. Jason won the toss the put the Old Grumblers to bat. Old Grumblers innings: Gleb and Alex opened the bowling, both of them high on confidence from last weekends development game when they bowled well. Although they seemed to start well, both of them conceeded far too many extras and got hit for the occasional boundary. Andres came in as first change and he managed to get a wicket in his first over, but his second over was filled with extras. By this time the visitors had built quite a healthy score though they lost couple of wickets.
Kristjan managed to get a wicket as well, though the extras were still leaking. Ian the guest bowler did well getting 2 wickets with his slow bowling. James started his spell with slower ones, the batsmen could not get away with much and when he shifted to top gear, he got his first wicket. Vineeth came in to bowl the 16th over and cleaned up the tail with his 3rd and 4th bowl.
Estonian Innings: Rob and Gavin opened the innings. Gavin fell quite soon, he was replaced by Alex who hit a splendid four before he was bowled. He was followed Gleb and Andres who fell soon. James was unlucky to get out in a strange way, the bowl drifting down the leg side hit his pad and deflected on to the wickets. Rob tried to up the tempo and hit some boundaries before being caught in the deep. Jason fell also trying to increase the runrate as the team was crawling at 48/4 in 12 overs.
He fell caught at long on. Siva came in and hit 3 sixes and a 4, to give the opposition a taste of the Front line Estonian batting they would face the next day. He fell to a straight bowl that kept low and hit the stumps. Martin and Ian were left with the task of scoring at 10 per over in the last 3. Though both of them played well hitting 4s, they could not match the run rate and Estonia fell short by 7 runs. This was Estonia's first defeat in over 10 matches, but would not be a big concern for the Captain as he was experimenting with the inexperienced players. Little would the Old Grumblers know of the storm that would hit them the next day when they would face the front line Estonian Bowling and batting attack!
Man of the match: Siva
